Watch an AFF first jump video HERE! It's called Accelerated Freefall Instruction (AFF) because the rate of learning is 3 to 5 times faster than some other methods of skydiving instruction. We offer AFF training as the way to progress through the new USPA Integrated Student Program. This program is the most advanced training program available. It was developed using the best training ideas from top programs through-out the world. The end result is a program with the most useful training exercises available to make the most of your training experience. The first jump ground training takes anywhere from 4 to 6 hours depending on the class size. As long as the weather, time and aircraft are cooperating we will usually get you up for your first jump on the same day! Plan on spending the entire day at West Point making you first jump, to allow for delays, etc. On AFF skydives you are taught correct body position for stable flight and how to do turns, forward movement and back flips on the higher levels. On the first three Categories of training jumps there are two Instructors with you during the skydive to give you in-air instruction by using hand signals. Categories D through F you will be skydiving with one Instructor. These Instructors have been certified by the United States Parachute Association as AFF Instructors. Once you have progressed through the lower levels you will then move on to make Coaching jumps to learn how to make jumps with small groups of people, which is called formation skydiving. On all AFF jumps you will deploy your own parachute and fly your landing pattern on your own. Your freefall time is usually 50 to 60 seconds per jump, longer than other skydiving centers because we take our turbine powered Twin Otter airplane HIGHER! This gives you more time to enjoy the freefall, check out the view, or scream, whichever the case may be! At WPSA we take every step necessary to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable skydive. We use only United States Parachute Association AFF Instructors or Coaches and your canopy flight is backed up with radio assistance, should you need it! We follow all of the guidelines established by the United States Parachute Association and the Federal Aviation Administration regarding standards for safe parachute operations. The cost of each jump depends on which level of instruction you have reached. Early levels require that two Instructors are used until you gain experience in controlled freefall. After that you will move to single Instructor AFF skydives and finally Coaching jumps and Solo jumps using student equipment. You must be at least 18 years old and weigh less than 225 pounds in order to make an Accelerated Freefall skydive. The weight limit is due to the certification of the parachute equipment. It is tested and certified to certain weights and speeds and we cannot go beyond those limits for your safety! The training is broken down into segments that can realistically be absorbed in one lesson. The older version 7-level AFF Program contained too many tasks in each level, which would usually overload most students and result in a poor performance. Training on how to fly a parachute was very basic and did not properly prepare someone how to handle a modern, high-performance canopy. The Integrated Student Program that we use at West Point addresses all of these problems and the result is a much better trained student who has learned how to safely jump with groups of people and received the correct information and training on how to handle high-performance canopies. We feel that this is the best program available to safely prepare you for the amazing new world that is waiting to be discovered by you-Skydiving! We have also introduced freefly training as the final two training jumps before the A License Program is finished. Freeflying has taken the skydiving world by storm over the past five years. What is freeflying you ask? Basically it is skydiving in any orientation other than belly-to-earth. Whether it is falling in a sit position like you are sitting in a chair or falling head down at 200 MPH, almost all of our new jumpers are freeflying. We realized that there were no real professionals teaching the new folks the basic things they needed to know before they attempted this type of skydiving. So we have added two jumps that teach the basics that everyone should know before attempting these types of skydives. Of course, you will not learn how to freefly well with only two training jumps, but you will learn what it takes to minimize the risks and be as safe as possible while you are learning. They are a lot of fun! Video is optional for the first AFF skydive. We highly recommend you have the video taken of your first skydive for two reasons. You will only have one first jump in your life and it should be caught on film, and it is a fantastic training aid to show you what your freefall position looked like during your jump. After the first jump we video the jumps from Category B (2nd jump) to Category E (8th jump) automatically at no additional charge. This is a savings of over $360 compared to other programs that would charge additionally for this video service! We have found video is such a valuable training aid that we wouldn't think of going without it! Besides, it's a blast to show your friends and family what fun you've been having. All of our regular video staff have the latest in digital video equipment to give you the clearest possible picture. Most of our video staff have the ability to take 35mm still photographs of your skydive also. Still photos are available for an additional charge. Be sure to ask about stills!
Once your training is complete each skydive is only $23 with your own equipment!! VIDEO INCLUDED In Price for Jumps 2-8! For more info on pricing or to make a reservation, click here. |
